Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA), formerly TASEA (Tanzania Solar Energy Association) is a non-profit making, non-governmental Organization that brings together actors in the renewable energy sectors to promote the accessibility and use of renewable energies in Tanzania. It was established in 2000 and registered by Ministry of Home Affairs on 7th May, 2001 with registration number SO 10900.
Zanzibar Solar Energy Association:
ZASEA is a non governmental organization which was founded in 2003 and officially registered in 2007. It was started by only a small number of people who shared the same ideal of making solar energy more popular on Zanzibar. By now it is the largest non governmental organisation dedicated solely to the promotion of renewable energies on the island.
Since 1998, the DTP has been involved with Tanzanian partners in renewable energy projects and promoting understanding in Tanzania and Germany. The DTP is a volunteer organisation that has strong, long-standing partnerships with organisations and people in Tanzania. By organising volunteer programs in Germany and Tanzania, they have created a large network of activists.

Oct 4th 2013A Feed-in-Tariff is a tariff that allows power producers to sell renewable energy sources generated electricity to a distributor at a pre-determined fixed tariff for a given period of time. EWURA approves FITs every year that are applicable to renewable energy generator or cogeneration.
FITs are based on TANESCO’s avoided cost, with a “one size fits all” approach. The tariff for the subsequent year is calculated by the WGSPD in the month of September every year, and submitted for regulatory review by 30th September. They must be published on or before the 30th of November.
